Saudi Arabia Reiterates Call for Recognition of the Palestinian State and Rejects Israeli Violations
SadaNews - The Saudi Cabinet affirmed on Tuesday the continuation of the country's efforts to establish a just peace in the Middle East and promote international security and stability, while halting the cycle of violence that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians. This came in the context of following up on developments in regional and international events.
The council expressed its hopes during the session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah, that the "High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue," chaired by the Kingdom in partnership with France, will contribute to accelerating the recognition of the Palestinian state, establishing a consensual path for implementing the two-state solution, and enhancing the security and stability of the countries in the region.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its welcome to the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron of his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine, urging other nations to take similar steps and support peace and the rights of the Palestinian people.
The council condemned, in the strongest terms, the Israeli Knesset's demand to impose control over the occupied West Bank and Palestinian Jordan Valley, which represents a blow to peace efforts and a persistence in destruction and chaos, emphasizing Saudi Arabia's complete rejection of the occupying authorities' violations of international law and United Nations resolutions.
