The First Batch of Syrian Displaced Persons Begins Returning from Lebanon
SadaNews - The first phase of the Lebanese government's plan for the return of Syrian displaced persons from Lebanon to their country was launched through the Masnaa border crossing.
The gathering point was set in Bar Elias - Al-Nahda Club playground, in preparation for the convoys heading to Syria as part of the organized return, coordinated between the General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon and the Syrian authorities.
Three buses carrying 72 Syrians, distributed among 14 families, along with two trucks transporting their belongings to the Lebanese-Syrian border, launched from the official Bar Elias Intermediate School, as part of the organized return campaign for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, coordinated between international bodies and the Lebanese government, which stipulates that returnees will receive financial assistance.
Last June, the Lebanese government unveiled a new multi-phase plan for the return of displaced persons to Syria, indicating that the return will be divided into organized and unorganized. In the organized return, names will be registered and buses will be secured to transport them to the interior of Syria, with each displaced person receiving an amount of $100.
Regarding the unorganized return, the displaced person will need to set their departure date and secure their mode of transport, and they will also receive $100.
