Russia Does Not Rule Out Meeting Between Putin and Trump in China in September
SadaNews - The Kremlin announced on Monday that it does not rule out holding a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in China in September.
Putin is scheduled to visit China at the beginning of September to participate in the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters, "If the American president ultimately decides to visit China during these days, then theoretically, a meeting of this kind cannot be ruled out."
Chinese forces will hold a military parade in Tiananmen Square, showcasing advanced planes and weapons to commemorate the anniversary on September 3; according to Chinese officials last month.
The Kremlin confirmed that Putin will attend the celebrations, which Chinese leaders have stated will also be attended by leaders from other countries around the world.
No meeting has taken place between Putin and Trump since the beginning of the U.S. president's second term; however, they have held phone calls on several occasions, notably to discuss the issue of the Russian invasion of Ukraine since February 2022.
