Weitkov Accuses Hamas of Not Wanting to Reach an Agreement and Israel Confirms Ongoing Negotiations

Translation and Follow-up by SadaNews - U.S. envoy Steve Weitkov announced Thursday evening the return of the U.S. delegation from Doha for consultations following Hamas's recent response, which indicates its unwillingness to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, according to his statement.

Weitkov stated in a tweet on the "X" platform that, despite the importance of mediation efforts, it appears that Hamas lacks coordination and is not acting in good faith.

He added threateningly: We will now consider alternative options to bring the hostages home and create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza.

He continued: It is unfortunate that Hamas has acted so selfishly... We are determined to end the conflict and achieve lasting peace in Gaza.

Meanwhile, all Hebrew media outlets quoted an official political source stating in a briefing that Hamas's response does not allow for real progress in the negotiations, which is why the delegation was sent back for extensive consultations within Israel, to explore how to narrow the gaps in the negotiations.

The official indicated, according to SadaNews translation, that there are gaps in all items, although progress was made in the early days in specific items, noting that in recent days new difficulties have been faced, including those related to the keys for prisoner exchange.

He said: The response we were presented does not allow for progress without clarity in Hamas's position.

He indicated that Israel will continue the negotiations and that they cannot be described as having collapsed, noting that they will work to narrow the gaps and close all items, and to bring all hostages home.
