SadaNews - The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, visited the village of Al-Taybah, east of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.
This is the first visit made by the U.S. Ambassador to a Palestinian area in the West Bank since taking office in November 2024.
Huckabee arrived in the Palestinian village to observe the situation following attacks by settlers on the area, where he was greeted by some of the village elders, including Christian figures, as reported by a SadaNews correspondent.
This visit comes after repeated attacks by settlers, which have escalated in recent days, on the town of Al-Taybah, east of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, and have targeted churches and even the village cemetery.
Huckabee is known for his extremist positions and support for settlers, as he adopts Israeli rhetoric concerning settlement in Israel, referring to it as "Judea and Samaria" and defining it as the land of "Abraham's ancestors."
Additionally, Huckabee is known to prefer figures from the far-right ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu's government, maintaining good relations with them, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who are supporters of the Hilltop Youth and other settler groups that wage war against the residents of the West Bank.
