Arab-Islamic Confirmation of Support for the Security, Unity, and Sovereignty of Syria
SadaNews - 11 Arab and Islamic countries have confirmed their support for the security, unity, stability, and sovereignty of Syria during a joint statement on Thursday, rejecting all external interventions in its affairs.
The statement mentioned that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Turkey, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt conducted intensive talks over the past two days regarding the developments in Syria, within the context of a unified stance and joint efforts to support the government in its reconstruction efforts for the sisterly Syria on the foundations that ensure its security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and the rights of all its citizens.
The ministers welcomed the agreement reached to end the crisis in the Sweida province, affirming the necessity of its implementation to protect Syria, its unity, and its citizens, which would stop the Syrian bloodshed and ensure the protection of civilians, and the sovereignty of the state and the rule of law.
The statement also welcomed the commitment of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara to hold accountable all those responsible for violations against Syrian citizens in Sweida, and to support all efforts to establish security and the sovereignty of the state and the rule of law there and throughout all Syrian territories, while rejecting violence, sectarianism, attempts to sow discord, incitement, and hatred.
The "ministers" condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria, affirming their rejection of them as a blatant violation of international law and a brazen assault on its sovereignty, destabilizing its security, stability, and the unity and integrity of its lands and citizens, undermining the government's efforts to build a new Syria that meets the aspirations and choices of its people.
The statement emphasized that Syria's security and stability are a foundation for regional security and stability and a shared priority, calling on the international community to support the Syrian government in the reconstruction process.
The "ministers" urged the Security Council to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to ensure the complete withdrawal of Israel from the occupied Syrian territories, to halt all hostilities against it and interference in its affairs, and to implement resolution 2766 and the disengagement agreement of 1974.
