Finance: We are currently studying alternatives to ensure the payment of employees' salaries
SadaNews - The General Accountant at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammad Rabi, confirmed that the relevant authorities are currently studying alternatives to secure the payment of salaries and continue providing basic services amid the ongoing occupation's freeze on the transfer of clearance funds for more than two months.
Rabi indicated in a statement to the official radio that among those alternatives is resorting to borrowing from banks despite exceeding the borrowing ceiling, which has reached 3 billion dollars.
Rabi affirmed that the Ministry of Finance in the occupying government has not transferred the clearance funds so far, despite ongoing international efforts to pressure it to do so.
The General Accountant clarified that the Ministry of Finance will disburse employees' salaries as soon as funds are available, noting that the percentage of disbursement will be determined according to the available capabilities.
Regarding the amount of clearance, which constitutes 70% of the Ministry of Finance's revenues, Rabi said it has dropped to 40% after the occupation's piracy of the funds allocated by the government to the Gaza Strip and the allocations for prisoners and martyrs.
He added that the value of those deductions has exceeded 8.5 billion dollars since the beginning of the occupation's deductions from clearance funds in 2019 instead of the allocations for prisoners and martyrs, before the allocations for Gaza were added in 2023.
