Netanyahu Appears Again in Court Regarding Corruption Cases
SadaNews - The trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu resumed today, Monday, at the Central Court in Tel Aviv, where he is responding to corruption charges against him after a break of more than a month.
Today's session revolves around the case known as "File 1000," in which he is accused of fraud and breach of trust, particularly concerning his relationship with American-Israeli film producer Arnon Milchan, following allegations that he and his wife received personal benefits in the form of gifts.
The Israeli prosecution began questioning Netanyahu regarding the same file on June 3, deviating from the order it followed in presenting the prosecution's case, beginning instead with File 4000, where he is accused of granting favors to the owner of the Bezeq telecommunications company, Shaul Elovitch, in exchange for favorable media coverage on the "Walla" news site, which is also owned by Elovitch.
The prosecution considers the first case to be stronger in terms of evidence against Netanyahu, unlike the latter case (File 4000), in which judges recommended that the prosecution drop the bribery charge, the most serious of the three charges in the file.
Netanyahu faces charges of corruption, bribery, and breach of trust in three known corruption cases identified as Files 1000, 2000, and 4000, with an indictment filed against him at the end of November 2023. In File 2000, he is accused of negotiating with the publisher of "Yedioth Ahronoth," Arnon Moses, to secure favorable media coverage.
