Russia: Foiling of a Terrorist Attack Against a Senior Russian Officer in Crimea
SadaNews - The Russian Federal Security Service revealed that its agents managed to thwart an attempt to assassinate one of the Russian military officers in the Crimea Peninsula just before Victory Day last May.
The Russian security agency stated in its announcement that a citizen possessing both Russian and Ukrainian citizenship was arrested. She had intended, commissioned by Ukrainian intelligence, to carry out a bombing of the targeted Russian military officer in his personal vehicle using a bomb made from Western components. The Ukrainian security officers who recruited and trained the terrorist have been identified.
The Russian security statement said: "The Federal Security Service managed to thwart a terrorist act that was being prepared by Ukrainian intelligence on the territory of the Republic of Crimea against a senior officer of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Under the orders of this intelligence, a girl born in 2000 with both Russian and Ukrainian citizenship attempted to blow up a senior Russian officer's car with an explosive device while he was inside, on the eve of Victory Day in May 2025. Russian security agents arrested the girl before she could carry out the terrorist act."
According to the statement, Western components allowing for the manual preparation of explosive devices were found at the terrorist's residence.
The Russian Federal Security Service added that criminal cases have been opened against the detainee under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code "terrorist act" and Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code "treason against the state."
