Netanyahu Informed the Head of "Yahadut HaTorah" About an Imminent War Against Iran to Prevent the Dissolution of the Knesset

SadaNews - The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, summoned the head of the "Yahadut HaTorah" bloc in the Knesset, Moshe Gafni, for an urgent meeting at the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Army headquarters in Tel Aviv last month, aiming to prevent the Haredi parties from voting on dissolving the Knesset and advancing the elections. To achieve this, Netanyahu requested Gafni to sign a document committing to maintain military secrecy, and after Gafni signed, Netanyahu informed him that Israel would launch a war against Iran within four days.

According to an investigation published by the "New York Times" today, Friday, Gafni left the meeting worried, as he was not sure whether the war against Iran was a real plan or if Netanyahu was deceiving him to keep his government from falling. At the same time, Gafni decided that Netanyahu's words might be true and that dissolving the Knesset would prevent an attack on Iran.

Two days later, "Yahadut HaTorah" voted against the dissolution of the Knesset. Less than 24 hours later, the war against Iran began.

The newspaper considered this "multi-faceted step" as presenting Netanyahu at the "peak of his political power," which included his struggle for political survival, maneuvering his coalition partners, and satisfying parties within the American administration, often occurring in parallel, reflecting the alignment between his personal interest, political survival, and national interest.

The newspaper indicated that the most important thing is that Netanyahu turned the war in Gaza or Lebanon or against Iran into a political tool for his continued rule.

A survey conducted by the "Institute for National Security Studies" at Tel Aviv University during the war against Iran, published yesterday, showed that Israeli confidence in Netanyahu during the war against Iran rose to its highest level since October 7.
