UN Human Rights Office: 798 Killed While Trying to Get Aid in Gaza

SadaNews - The UN Human Rights Office stated that at least 798 citizens have been martyred while attempting to receive food aid in Gaza since the end of May.

A spokesperson for the office explained to reporters that 615 of these citizens were martyred in the vicinity of locations belonging to what is called the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" while trying to obtain food assistance since May 27, and 183 were martyred along the routes of aid convoys.

In early this month, 169 relief organizations called for a halt to the distribution mechanism of the Israeli-American aid led by the foundation, following near-daily reports of citizens being martyred by occupation fire while waiting for assistance near its centers.

The organizations demanded a return to the aid delivery mechanism that was led by the UN in the sector until March, when the occupation imposed its blockade on the sector, before allowing aid to gradually enter at the end of May, distributing it through the institution connected to it, which international organizations refused to cooperate with.

The statement criticized the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" which began managing the aid instead of the usual international humanitarian organizations since late May. The list of signatories of the statement included organizations from Europe, the United States, and Israel, active in the fields of medical, food aid, development, and human rights.
