Pro-Palestinian Activist Mahmoud Khalil Demands $20 Million from Trump Administration for His Detention
SadaNews - Mahmoud Khalil, one of the leading figures in pro-Palestinian university protests in the United States, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration demanding $20 million in compensation for his arrest and detention by immigration agents.
Khalil (30 years old), a legally permanent resident of the United States, married to an American citizen and a father, was detained after being stopped in March.
He was released from a federal immigration detention center in Louisiana last month, just hours after a judge issued an order for his release on bail.
According to the Constitutional Rights Center, which supports Khalil, "the administration executed its illegal plan to arrest Khalil and detain and deport him as a calculated act to terrorize him and his family."
The complaint added that Khalil suffered from "severe psychological distress, economic hardships, and damage to his reputation."
