Saar's Advice to Netanyahu on the Gaza Deal: Ignore Political Threats
SadaNews - Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced on Thursday his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in efforts to reach a truce in Gaza.
Saar said during a press conference in Vienna: "I support the Prime Minister who is on an important diplomatic mission in Washington."
Saar advised Netanyahu to "ignore the pressures and political threats" in his pursuit of a "formula for the release of hostages that reflects the majority will in the government and the public, and aligns with national interest."
Saar had confirmed on Wednesday that Tel Aviv is prepared to negotiate a permanent ceasefire in Gaza if a temporary one is achieved first.
The minister stated during his visit to Bratislava: "If we reach a temporary ceasefire, we will negotiate a permanent ceasefire."
He added: "We are serious about reaching a ceasefire in Gaza, and this is something that can be achieved."
An Israeli official also mentioned on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas might be able to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and free prisoners within a week or two.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump met with Netanyahu for the second time in two days to discuss the situation in Gaza.
U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Whetington noted that Israel and Hamas are nearing an agreement for a ceasefire, following 21 months since the outbreak of the war.
