Israeli Army Acknowledges Conducting Ground Operations in Several Areas of Southern Lebanon

SadaNews - The Israeli army has acknowledged the incursion of its forces into several areas in southern Lebanon and the execution of ground operations, claiming to attack and destroy sites and combat means belonging to Hezbollah, all while continuing its violations of the ceasefire agreement.

In addition to publishing footage documenting the ground operations in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army stated that "the soldiers have begun executing specific and limited operations to destroy and prevent Hezbollah's repositioning, following intelligence received and the monitoring of combat means and infrastructure in several areas in southern Lebanon."

In its statement, it said, "In one of the operations in the Mount Blat series, the troops of Brigade 300 found a compound containing weapon storage facilities and launch sites belonging to Hezbollah, and the infrastructure was destroyed."

It added, "In another operation, reserve soldiers of the 'Oded (9)' Brigade found combat means hidden in the Labouna area, including a platform with several launch tubes, a heavy machine gun, and dozens of explosive devices. The forces confiscated and destroyed the military equipment and combat means. An underground building used for storing combat means was also found in the area, and the infrastructure was destroyed in a demolition operation."

It is considered that "the army will continue to work to remove threats from the State of Israel and prevent Hezbollah's attempts at repositioning, based on the understandings reached between Israel and Lebanon."

This comes as the Israeli army announces daily airstrikes on several areas in Lebanon, claiming that its attacks target elements and sites belonging to Hezbollah.

With the continued Israeli violations of the agreement since the cessation of the escalation in November 2024, there is increasing pressure from Washington to disarm Hezbollah, which presented a proposal to Lebanon before the latter responded in recent days.

Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Naeem Qassem, recently stated that his party would not respond to calls to surrender its weapons before the Israeli aggression departs from Lebanon.

It is noteworthy that Israel still occupies 5 Lebanese hills that it seized during the last war, while Lebanese authorities and Hezbollah are demanding its withdrawal from these areas.
