Naim Qassem: Nasrallah learned of the October 7 attack half an hour after it began
SadaNews - Naim Qassem, the Secretary General of Hezbollah, revealed today, Tuesday evening, that the former Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah received news of the start of the October 7 attack half an hour after it began.
Qassem stated in an interview with Al-Mayadeen channel: "The brothers in Hamas leadership inside took this great, impactful, and transformative action that changed the situation in the region, and we were not aware of it."
He added: "The idea initiated by Nasrallah was to order, the next day, the bombardment of Shebaa Farms based on the principle that it is Lebanese occupied land."
He mentioned that Hezbollah’s Shura Council convened and decided to engage in a supportive battle rather than a comprehensive war, as a total war requires preparations.
He said: "There was a price for Hezbollah to open the battle comprehensively on the basis that it would be exceptional and could yield extraordinary results."
He added: "The aim of the support was to alleviate the situation in Gaza and push the Israelis towards a solution."
He pointed out that Iran was not aware of the October 7 attack, saying: "In fact, part of Hamas leadership abroad was also unaware of it."
Regarding the exploding beeper devices, Qassem said: "It started with a significant breach, as the brothers believed that the purchase operation was concealed, but it turned out to be exposed to the Israelis."
He indicated that the purchase of the explosive beepers occurred within the last year or one and a half years.
He stated: "It became clear that the type of explosives placed in the beepers was exceptional and could not be detected through the inspection mechanism that was followed, emphasizing that there was a deficiency in the inspection process."
He revealed that Israel was extensively and significantly eavesdropping on Hezbollah, to the extent that the Israelis knew everything.
He added, the Secretary General of Hezbollah: "We have not reached conclusions yet regarding a large or qualitative human breach."
