Qatar: We Seek a Negotiation Framework for Gaza and There Are Positive Impressions

SadaNews - The spokesman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid Al-Ansari, said on Tuesday that the efforts of the mediators are focused on reaching a stage to end the war in Gaza.

Al-Ansari added during a press conference discussing the indirect negotiations in Doha between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) that both delegations are present and discussions are being facilitated with each delegation separately.

He continued that there are currently discussions about a negotiation framework before the start of the final stage, explaining that what is being discussed is a general framework document, and detailed talks have not yet begun.

He also said that the mediators are providing a framework and initial principles, and they hope that once an agreement is reached on them, they can move on to the proposal discussion phase.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that the mediators are seeking to bridge the gap for the negotiation framework and to create a suitable environment, adding that they do not set timelines for the negotiations, but they continue until positive results are achieved.

Al-Ansari explained that it is too early to discuss any details, but there are positive impressions, stating that the process takes time, and a clear timeline for reaching results cannot be provided.

The Qatari spokesman stated that leaks are irresponsible actions, stressing that the negotiation process requires calm, and that leaks lead to an information flood that may impact its progress.

Regarding the Israeli delegation's mandates, Al-Ansari clarified that it is not possible to talk precisely about its mandates, but he said that the level of engagement is positive.

A new round of indirect negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza has commenced in the Qatari capital, following a new American proposal for a deal.

Hamas responded positively to the proposal and requested amendments, while Israel described these proposed amendments as unacceptable but sent a delegation to Doha.

US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that there are no obstacles to reaching a ceasefire in Gaza, and that things are going well.
