Executive Committee Calls for Unified Efforts Against Annexation and Displacement and Demands Immediate Cessation of Aggression on Gaza
SadaNews - The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization held a meeting to review the political and security situation, especially the acts of sabotage, destruction, and murder committed by settler gangs against Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank with the help of the occupation army and the sponsorship of Israel's far-right government. This includes seizing lands and farms from citizens, displacing them, burning their homes, and transforming them into military outposts for the occupation forces.
The Executive Committee praised the resilience of the citizens and their resistance to the settler gangs and the occupation army, reaffirming their commitment to their properties and rejecting the displacement of citizens from one area to another.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Executive Committee demanded that humanitarian assistance be limited and distributed solely through UNRWA. It emphasized the need to unify the efforts of all Palestinian factions and forces to confront the silent annexation attempts of our lands by the occupation authorities, called for strengthening national unity on the ground, and organizing protection committees in all areas, to be stronger and more effective in confronting the settler hordes and their brutal actions. It affirmed the solidarity of all national institutions with the citizens and providing the necessary material resources in our battle to thwart settlement plans.
The Executive Committee also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip amid the continuing blockade and the genocidal war waged by the occupation army against Palestinians, depriving them of the most basic elements of living and life, even affecting infants.
In this context, it called on the international community and its institutions to immediately cease-fire, coinciding with the provision and organization of humanitarian assistance for the families in the Gaza Strip.
The Executive Committee confirmed the continuation of political and diplomatic efforts at the Arab, regional, and international levels for the rapid convening of the international conference that was scheduled for June in New York, chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France under the auspices of the United Nations, to implement international legitimacy resolutions concerning the Palestinian issue, primarily the two-state solution and recognizing the State of Palestine as a pathway to ending the occupation.
The Executive Committee decided to work on convening a meeting of the Palestinian National Council immediately after the cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
In light of the severe financial crisis we are facing, the Executive Committee emphasized the importance of international action to put an end to the continuing Israeli occupation state's theft of clearance funds under flimsy pretexts. It also resolved to intensify efforts with our Arab brethren to commit to implementing what was decided in successive Arab summits regarding providing assistance to the State of Palestine within the framework of commitments and the Arab safety net.
The Executive Committee discussed the compensation claims filed in Israeli courts against the Palestine Liberation Organization and the National Authority, and the need to establish a national and international legal strategy to protect Palestinian public funds and the rights of Palestinians and their legitimate representatives.
It approved the formation of a national legal team to confront the alleged Israeli compensation claims.
The Executive Committee also made a series of decisions and procedures concerning the remaining items on its agenda and following up on their implementation.
