Ministry of Economy Launches E-Commerce Portal
SadaNews: National Economy Minister Mohammed Al-Amour launched the e-commerce portal today, Wednesday, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa, with the participation of Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Abdurrazak Natshe, and in the presence of the Governor of the Palestinian Monetary Authority, Yahya Shanar, along with representatives from the public and private sectors. This initiative aims to digitize the economy and support Palestinian traders and producers, and is a practical implementation of the e-commerce law.
During the platform's launch at the ministry headquarters, Minister Al-Amour stated that the event represents "a new station in a national path of work, resilience, and construction," emphasizing that the portal is not just a technical tool but a "new economic corridor" that reconnects the local market with its internal structure and the external world, providing Palestinian products with a genuine window to access broader markets despite the challenges.
Al-Amour confirmed that the launch of the platform is part of a transitional methodology that began in 2024 with the electronic business portal, followed in 2025 by the adoption of a simple electronic signature and the enhancement of the legislative framework for trade and competition laws, leading to this phase in 2026, which represents "the transition from service digitization to the digitization of the economy itself."
He noted that the work on the platform has been guided by a comprehensive governmental vision and close cooperation between the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, considering the project a "state project" based on integration and partnership among national institutions, supporting the Palestinian economy's ability to grow and achieve independence.
The minister pointed out that the government has also worked on establishing the Palestinian digital economic identity by adopting the Palestinian domain (PS) for all economic activities, as a strategic step that affirms "the digital presence of Palestine and its ability to integrate into the global digital economy."
Al-Amour emphasized that the main objectives of the platform are to enhance the power of Palestinian traders, expand the presence of national products, and increase the economy's capacity to access and compete, while continuing to work on completing the legislative and structural system that supports investment and innovation.
The minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the team from the Ministry of National Economy and the technical and administrative teams and partners for their continuous efforts, reaffirming the government's commitment to moving forward towards building a modern, digital, and sustainable Palestinian economy.
For his part, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Abdurrazak Natshe highlighted the importance of this strategic achievement, which is an additional step towards digitizing the national economy, confirming that the ministry's vision aims to build a comprehensive digital infrastructure that enables the national economy to transition towards a comprehensive and sustainable digital economy. He mentioned that practical steps included updating the digital infrastructure, enhancing communication services, and developing secure digital platforms that support e-commerce, focusing on data protection and building consumer and trader trust in digital transactions.
Minister Abdurrazak pointed out the importance of integrating into the global economy through e-commerce as a vital channel to open new markets for Palestinian products, stressing that the success of this transformation requires effective partnership between the public and private sectors. He added that the ministry will continue to provide technical, legislative, and training support, and launch enabling initiatives to stimulate digital entrepreneurship and empower local companies to compete internationally.
The launch event was attended by representatives from government and private institutions, as well as members of the business community and entrepreneurs. The event included a practical demonstration of the portal's operations and its benefits for traders and consumers, with an emphasis on accompanying support and training programs to integrate the private sector into the platform.
