Egypt Angers Israel for the Second Time Since the War on Iran.. What's the Story?!

SadaNews Economy Translation - The Egyptian tourism authorities have angered the Israelis for the second time during the war on Iran.

According to the Hebrew newspaper Yisrael Hayom, as translated by the SadaNews Economy section, Egypt has raised the crossing fees at the Taba crossing checkpoint for the second time during the war, specifically on Saturday morning, to an unprecedented amount of 120 US dollars per person. It noted that they can only be paid in dollars.

The Israelis, who were redirected to Taba Airport instead of Ben Gurion Airport, discovered that they have become a major source of income. The Hebrew newspaper stated.

The newspaper mentioned: "The Egyptian authorities are fully exploiting the fact that tens of thousands of Israelis have been crossing the border in recent weeks, considering it almost the only way to continue their trips abroad, amid the war and severe disturbances at Ben Gurion Airport."

It pointed out that the new fees added on Saturday morning represent another significant increase in prices, marking the second rise in less than three months, making crossing the land border extremely expensive for both families and individual travelers.

According to the newspaper, the insurance and maintenance fee (up to one kilometer) is 20 US dollars (instead of about 10 US dollars until recently).

The crossing fee for the first kilometer (for flights from Taba/Sharm Airport) is 100 US dollars + 20 US dollars (a total of 120 US dollars per traveler).

Vehicle crossing fees are 100 US dollars (a 100% increase compared to pre-war prices).

Parking fees inside the terminal building are 5 US dollars per hour.

An Israeli tourism official said: "They know we are a public that is not obliged to do so." He called on Israelis to boycott Egypt and not to go there.

Until yesterday, Friday, the crossing fee was 60 US dollars for passengers heading to the airport, a price that was considered exorbitant even then, but now the fee has been raised to 120 US dollars per person, in addition to the Israeli fees of about 120 new shekels when traveling abroad via Egypt.

One Israeli, who learned about the new prices, said: "I am personally very shocked by this... The fees were 400 Egyptian pounds in 2025, and these fees amount to about 25 new shekels."
