A Decline in the Industrial Production Quantity Index in Palestine during January 2026

The industrial production quantity index recorded a decrease of 2.07% during January 2026 compared to December 2025, with the index dropping to 81.77 in January 2026 from 83.50 in December 2025 (with 2019 as the base year = 100).

The movement of industrial production quantities across major economic activities during January 2026 compared to the previous month.

Mining and quarrying activities recorded a decrease of 6.52%, which represents a relative importance of 2.89% of total industrial activities.

Water supply, sanitation, waste management and remediation activities recorded a decrease of 4.97%, which constitutes a relative importance of 1.84% of total industrial activities.

Manufacturing activities also recorded a decrease of 3.30% during January 2026 compared to the previous month, comprising a relative importance of 87.89% of total industrial activities.

On the other hand, some sub-activities that have a significant relative impact on the overall index recorded decreases during January 2026 compared to the previous month, notably; food product manufacturing, tobacco product manufacturing, other non-metallic mineral product manufacturing, basic pharmaceutical manufacturing and its preparations, furniture manufacturing, clothing manufacturing, textile manufacturing, paper and paper product manufacturing.

Conversely, the index recorded increases in some activities, the most notable being; manufacturing of fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment, chemical and chemical product manufacturing, printing and reproduction of recorded media, and beverage manufacturing.

Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities recorded an increase of 9.37%, which constitutes a relative importance of 7.38% of total industrial activities.
