Decision by law regarding the amendment of the electricity law 2025

SadaNews Economy - President Mahmoud Abbas has issued a decision by law regarding the amendment of the electricity law 2025.

The amendments state: Paragraph 5 is amended to read as follows: "Electricity distribution companies may conclude agreements with national local electrical power generation companies to purchase electrical energy generated from traditional or renewable sources."

Paragraph 7 is also amended to read as follows: "The national transmission company has the exclusive right to conclude foreign (non-local) import agreements to purchase electricity generated from traditional or renewable sources after obtaining approval from the Energy and Natural Resources Authority and the ratification of the Cabinet."

Electricity distribution companies and all local authorities distributing electricity are required to adjust their situations in accordance with the provisions of this decision by law and the original law within a maximum period of 3 months from the date of its enforcement.
