Turkey Decides to Cut Economic Ties with Israel and Close Its Airspace to Its Aircraft
SadaNews - The Republic of Turkey announced today, Friday, the complete severance of its economic relations with Israel and the closure of its airspace to its aircraft.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated in a speech before the Turkish Parliament, "We have completely halted trade with Israel, closed our ports to its ships, and we do not allow Turkish vessels to head to Israeli ports."
He added: "Israel is practicing a brutal starvation policy against the Palestinians in Gaza in an effort to expel them."
Fidan indicated that his country's efforts are ongoing with Qatar and Egypt to find a fundamental solution to the Palestinian issue, clarifying that Israel's goal is clear: to make Gaza unlivable in order to force the people to leave.
He continued, "Radical ministers and settlers are trying to escalate tensions through incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque."
He affirmed that the Israeli mentality does not recognize international laws and disregards them.
In May, the office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Turkey would not open its airspace to the aircraft of the wanted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by international justice.
