SadaNews Economy - As part of its ongoing efforts to protect the Palestinian market and enhance digital sovereignty, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the Customs Enforcement Agency, has intensified its supervision campaigns in several governorates across the country to seize SIM cards and devices that are used illegally or lack the necessary technical approvals.
In Nablus Governorate, the Authority's teams succeeded in seizing 118 prohibited Israeli SIM cards and 4 top-up devices belonging to Israeli companies during two field operations, in addition to 18 illegal communication devices.
In Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, 89 communication devices lacking the required technical approvals were seized, and they have been retained in preparation for completing the necessary legal procedures against the violating parties.
The Authority confirmed that these actions are part of a comprehensive regulatory plan aimed at regulating the communications market and limiting the entry or trading of unauthorized equipment and networks, ensuring the protection of consumer rights and enhancing the security of Palestinian communications.
The Authority urged all importers and distributors of devices to fully comply with the applicable laws and regulations, warning against negligence in trading Israeli SIM cards or unapproved devices.
The Authority also called on citizens to report any violations or transgressions via the toll-free number 131, affirming its commitment to continue enhancing supervision and raising community awareness of the importance of using licensed and safe devices.
