The Governor of the Monetary Authority Discusses Developments in the Banking Sector in Palestine with the Australian Representative

SadaNews Economy - The Governor of the Monetary Authority, Yahya Shanar, met today at the Monetary Authority headquarters with the Australian Representative to Palestine, Ms. Bethany Randal, in the presence of Deputy Governor Mr. Muhammad Manasra, and several officials from both sides.

During the meeting, the governor reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian banking sector and the challenges it faces, especially regarding the crisis of Shekel accumulation and the Israeli side's refusal to accept Shekels from banks to fund their banking accounts, and the negative effects this has on the continued provision of banking services to citizens and meeting the needs of various economic sectors.

The governor also informed the Australian representative about the measures the Monetary Authority has begun to alleviate the severity of this crisis and the steps taken to maintain the stability of the financial system.

Shanar emphasized the importance of the role played by the international community and its contribution to addressing this crisis, in addition to maintaining correspondent banking relationships and supporting the Monetary Authority's efforts to enhance the ability of the Palestinian banking sector to serve the economy and the Palestinian private sector.

For her part, Ms. Bethany Randal expressed her appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Monetary Authority and affirmed her country's readiness to provide possible assistance to ensure the continuity and stability of the banking system in Palestine.
