Advisor to the Minister of Industry to SadaNews: Substituting Palestinian products for imports is a national necessity that creates job opportunities and boosts production

SadaNews - The Palestinian Ministry of Industry, in cooperation with the "Export" program, organized a specialized workshop titled "Replacement of Imports for Imported Goods" late last month, based on a precise analysis of trade data related to consumption, imports, and local production.

In a special interview with "SadaNews", Dr. Maher Hashish, advisor to the Minister of Industry, stated that the ministry is working on implementing a strategic vision aimed at enhancing local production, particularly in sectors that witness heavy imports, primarily food industries and cleaning materials.

Hashish explained that the aim of this step is "to substitute at least part of these imports, which contributes to reducing dependence on foreign sources, and provides real job opportunities in the Palestinian market especially in light of the scarcity of job vacancies."

He added: "This vision is not just about alternative production, but building an integrated economic system that gradually enhances self-sufficiency and opens the door for Palestinian youth to engage in the industrial and agricultural sectors."

Regarding the challenges facing the implementation of this vision, Hashish continued: "There is no doubt that our current conditions are extremely difficult, but the Palestinian people do not know surrender, and we have a strong will to provide whatever can be done to push the national production forward."

The minister's advisor also pointed out that the ministry is working to support the use of alternative energy in industrial projects, to reduce the high costs associated with energy, which are among the main obstacles to the growth of local industries.
