The Ministry of Agriculture Takes a Series of Measures to Regulate the Date Palm Sector in Palestine
Economy SadaNews: The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture has revealed a series of corrective measures it has taken to govern, organize, and regulate the date palm sector in Palestine.
It stated that a permanent technical committee has been formed, comprising representatives from ministries, governmental institutions, and relevant NGOs involved in production and marketing to ensure joint coordination.
It also reported the "adoption of a reference technical guide for date production estimation processes."
It noted the "approval of unified regulatory forms for production estimation, including a mechanism for seasonal quarterly analysis."
It said that "specialized field teams have been formed to inspect and verify farm data, using precise verification and documentation tools."
It added: "An accurate survey of the fruitful areas in date farms has been conducted; covering about 500 farms that represent 85% of the actually productive areas."
The statement continued: "Farm data will be handed over to the relevant parties (the farmers) after verification."
It completed: "The preliminary announcement of production estimates will be made at the end of the season, relying solely on the final estimate."
It continued: "An electronic regulatory system for marketing cards will be launched to track the product, identify its source, and link it to the farms."
It emphasized the "linking of the issuance of export and marketing certificates to the allocated marketing cards to ensure transparency and regulate the quality of dates."
