Tulkarem Chamber of Commerce Calls for Urgent Intervention to Save the Private Sector from Collapse
SadaNews - The Tulkarem Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued a press statement expressing its deep concern over the deteriorating catastrophic conditions in Tulkarem Governorate due to the ongoing economic and commercial blockade, in addition to the continuous incursions that threaten a total collapse of the local private sector.
The chamber confirmed in its statement that the private sector in Tulkarem is facing a "systematic destruction," emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to save what remains of this vital sector. It called on the Palestinian government to fulfill its commitments made during the Cabinet session held in the governorate, which included providing exemptions, discounts, and compensations for the afflicted economic sectors, as well as exerting serious pressure to open crossings.
The chamber noted that it recognizes the magnitude of the challenges facing the Palestinian government in the current situation, but expressed regret that none of those promises have been translated into actual measures on the ground, urging the government to take urgent steps as it promised the people of Tulkarem.
The chamber warned against the continuation of the current situation, affirming that it would exacerbate the crisis and explode the economic and social conditions, inflicting severe damage that cannot be easily remedied. It also confirmed that the crisis threatens the livelihoods of thousands of citizens in Tulkarem, calling for immediate action to support the resilience of the private sector and save it from imminent collapse.
