Morocco Officially Signs Agreement to Join the International Stability Force in Gaza

SadaNews - Morocco announced on Wednesday its official joining of the international stability force that will operate in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Moroccan official news agency, the agreement was signed following a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the Minister Delegate for National Defense Administration Abdelatif Loudiyi, the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces, the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, military officials, and the UN Special Coordinator for the Peace Council in Gaza, Nikolai Mladenov, who arrived in Rabat leading a high-level delegation from the council and the commander of the international stability force in Gaza.

The agreement pertains to Morocco's participation in the international stability force in Gaza, which constitutes the legal framework covering the technical and operational aspects of this participation, reflecting the shared desire to contribute through tangible humanitarian and security initiatives to building an atmosphere of peace and security in the region, according to the statement.

A statement from the Moroccan National Defense Administration indicated that this meeting falls within the framework of embodying Morocco's commitments as a founding member of the Peace Council, in line with the high royal directives announced during the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council held in Washington, chaired by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, which was marked by the signing of the agreement concerning Morocco's participation in the international stability force in Gaza.

During this meeting, the Moroccan side affirmed that Morocco's participation in the international stability force embodies the deep commitment of the kingdom to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity, and will contribute to achieving and establishing peace and security in the Middle East region, as stated in the statement.

The statement also highlighted the experience that the Kingdom of Morocco has accumulated within the framework of peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations, as well as its steadfast commitment at both regional and international levels for the sake of peace and stability, emphasizing the royal initiatives launched by the Moroccan king, especially regional integration projects that positively impact security and social progress.

For their part, the senior officials of the Peace Council in Gaza and the commander of the international stability force highly appreciated the Kingdom of Morocco's engagement in this peaceful initiative, through its contribution represented in deploying senior officers from the Royal Armed Forces to the joint command of the international stability force, and personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security, in addition to establishing a field military hospital.
