Zelensky is Moving to Change the Prime Minister; 4 Killed in Russian Attacks

SadaNews - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is moving to change the Prime Minister after a year in office, while Russian attacks in the central and southern parts of the country resulted in the deaths of 4 people last night, just one day before a meeting of Kyiv's allies in France to pressure Russia to end its ongoing war against Ukraine for over 4 years.

Zelensky announced today, Sunday, that he has proposed changing Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, stating: "I expect that we will, in cooperation with the members of parliament, make the necessary changes in the Ukrainian government."

This was mentioned in a tweet on his X platform where he said: "I am grateful to Yulia for her clear, diligent, and accomplished work as Prime Minister, and for her fruitful years of service within the Ukrainian team, and I have offered her the opportunity to lead a new and important area of relations with a key partner."

It is noteworthy that Svyrydenko took office in July 2025 after President Zelensky made a third reshuffle of the government during his term, having previously served as Minister of Economy in the government of former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Svyrydenko is also considered the second Ukrainian woman to hold the office of Prime Minister after Yulia Tymoshenko (2007–2010). She emerged before taking office as a sponsor of the rare minerals agreement reached with the United States, and due to her strict positions at the time, the signing of the agreement was canceled multiple times.

3 People Killed

On the ground, regional officials reported that 3 people were killed in Russian attacks targeting Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine last night, with two of them dying in a strike that hit an "industrial facility" in Kryvyi Rih.

Mayor Yaroslav Shankov announced that another drone attack on the city of Kherson in southern Ukraine resulted in the death of one person (48 years old).

The strikes occurred one day before the scheduled meeting of Ukraine's allies in Paris to discuss pressing Russia to end its ongoing war for more than 4 years.

It is worth mentioning that Ukrainian air defenses have been under pressure due to repeated Russian ballistic missile strikes in recent weeks.

In turn, the Ukrainian army said today, Sunday, that it targeted an oil refinery in the Russian Samara Region during the night.

Kyiv has intensified its attacks on Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure in recent months, seeking to reduce Moscow's revenues from oil product exports that the Kremlin uses to continue its war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the United States granted Ukraine this week permission to manufacture "Patriot" air defense systems capable of shooting down Russian ballistic missiles, although their production may take months.
