Iran Attacks Sites in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan
SadaNews - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Monday the execution of new attacks targeting American military bases and sites in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, marking the latest round of military escalation with the United States, only hours after Washington announced the end of a new wave of airstrikes against Iranian targets.
The official Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that the attacks included Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, a center for controlling American drones in Bahrain, alongside other air bases, including Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
Iranian media also reported that the Revolutionary Guard announced the targeting of Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain during what it described as the "second phase" of its retaliatory operations, adding that the attack on Prince Hassan Base in Jordan led, according to its account, to igniting fuel tanks and ammunition warehouses using missiles and drones.
The Revolutionary Guard confirmed that these attacks come in response to American strikes targeting military bases and facilities along the Iranian coast, noting that its military operations "are still ongoing."
In a related development, the Revolutionary Guard announced that its naval forces executed, on Sunday night, an operation to stop two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming they "violated instructions" and halted their tracking systems, considering that this posed a threat to maritime security in the strait.
The Revolutionary Guard did not provide additional details regarding the identity or nationality of the two ships, while no independent confirmations regarding the incident were released.
Simultaneously with the Iranian announcement, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior urged citizens and residents to immediately head to the nearest safe location, following the sounding of alarm sirens for the second time in less than 24 hours.
The Bahraini authorities did not immediately report any casualties or damage resulting from the attacks, while air defenses continue to respond to the threats, according to official statements.
For its part, the Kuwaiti army said it is currently engaging "hostile aerial targets," clarifying that the sounds of explosions were due to interceptions.
This escalation comes hours after the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the end of a new wave of strikes against Iran, which it said targeted dozens of military locations, including air defense systems, coastal radars, missile and drone sites, and military boats.
CENTCOM emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is a "vital maritime passage for global trade, and Iran does not control it," stressing that U.S. forces will continue to ensure freedom of navigation and protect commercial vessels in the waterway.
This escalation reflects the ongoing military confrontation between Washington and Tehran, amid ongoing regional and international diplomatic efforts to prevent the crisis from escalating into a broader war, with UN warnings about the serious ramifications of any return to a comprehensive confrontation in the region.
