In a Written Message: The President Calls on the Arab League to Urge Arab States to Meet Their Financial Commitments to Support the Resilience of the Palestinian People

SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas directed a written message to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Dr. Nabil Fahmy, regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the latest developments in the Palestinian cause.

The permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aqlouk, handed over President Abbas's message during his meeting today, Sunday, with Dr. Nabil Fahmy at the League's headquarters in Cairo.

In his message to the Secretary-General, President Abbas called for activating the Arab financial safety net to support the resilience of the Palestinian people by supporting the budget of the State of Palestine, based on the shared Arab responsibility in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the Israeli policies and measures aimed at undermining their ability to remain steadfast on their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The President's message also addressed the punitive economic and financial policies and measures pursued by Israel, the occupying power, against the State of Palestine, including the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues known as clearance revenues, in a blatant violation of international law, and the resulting mounting financial pressures have turned into debts on the Palestinian government, complicating its ability to meet its basic obligations.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League affirmed his full commitment to exerting the necessary efforts to support the Palestinian cause and the just struggle of the Palestinian people in the face of the policies and practices of the Israeli occupying authorities.
