Head of Lawyers: Burning of Lawyer's Vehicle is an Assault on Justice... Suspect Caught Within Hours

SadaNews: Fadi Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Bar Association, confirmed in a press statement this morning that the heinous assault that occurred yesterday at dawn, which involved the burning of lawyer Muayad Sidr's vehicle from the city of Hebron due to his professional duties and representation of one of the parties in a lawsuit, constitutes a direct attack on the entire justice system and a blatant violation of the principle of the rule of law and the constitutional right to litigation.

The head of the Bar Association commended the swift response of law enforcement and the police, which resulted within hours in the arrest of the primary suspect in committing this crime, confirming that the speed of the procedures reflects the commitment of the relevant institutions to protect the rule of law and ensure community security.

He emphasized that the lawyer represents a crucial component in achieving justice, and their presence is one of the most important guarantees of a fair trial and the protection of rights and freedoms, which necessitates raising community awareness of the importance of their message and not targeting them for performing their professional duties.

The head of the Bar Association stated that the nature of this attack does not only target the lawyer personally but also aims at the message of justice itself, which requires dealing with it as an assault on a judicial authority and applying the highest levels of legal protection and aggravating circumstances against its perpetrators, in order to ensure that such crimes do not recur and to safeguard the independence of the legal profession.
