Weekly Government Report: Political and Diplomatic Movements and Millions of Dollars in Development Projects
SadaNews - The Government Communication Center reviewed in its weekly report the most significant interventions and achievements carried out by the Palestinian government during the period from June 14 to 20, which included sectors such as energy, social development, housing, agriculture, economy, education, labor, and infrastructure, alongside intensive political and diplomatic efforts to confront the ramifications of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
In the political arena, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa reiterated during his meetings with the Lithuanian Foreign Minister and the British Minister of State for Middle Eastern Affairs his call for increased international pressure to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation and to halt the piracy of Palestinian clearance funds. He also discussed ways to enhance international cooperation to support the Palestinian people in facing the current political and economic challenges.
In support of the energy sector, Palestine and the Islamic Development Bank signed an agreement worth $37 million to establish two solar power stations, which are among the largest renewable energy projects in Palestine. They are expected to provide electricity for about eight thousand homes, along with the installation of 20,000 smart meters and implementing training programs for workers and youth in the sector.
In the area of social protection, the Ministry of Social Development implemented thousands of humanitarian and relief interventions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which included providing food and non-food assistance to thousands of families, distributing drinking water in Gaza, and implementing programs to protect women, children, orphans, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, in addition to interventions in health insurance, economic empowerment, and community work.
In the Gaza Strip, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, began the establishment and preparation of the "Sultan" shelter center in the northern Gaza Strip. It continues to implement projects to adapt and rehabilitate partially damaged housing units, assess new lands for additional shelter centers, and continue damage assessments and engineering inspections through specialized technical teams.
In diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates continued its political moves with several friendly countries, emphasizing the necessity of taking international deterrent measures against the aggressors. It also condemned Israeli attempts to alter the legal and historical status of the city of Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque and rejected the opening of any foreign missions or representations in occupied Jerusalem in violation of international law.
In the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture intensified its field interventions in the West Bank governorates, particularly in the Northern Valleys and Tubas Governorate, by supporting farmers and livestock breeders, implementing green job projects, distributing agricultural supplies, shading networks, and feed, alongside vaccination and tagging campaigns for sheep, and monitoring the protection of agricultural lands threatened by occupation and settlers' assaults.
The Ministry of Labor also announced the launch and implementation of several developmental and operational programs, the most notable of which is the "Income and Market Recovery Program for Gaza" that aims to support approximately 20,000 economic establishments and provide nearly 100,000 job opportunities, along with programs to support entrepreneurial projects, empower women and farming families, and offer training and employment opportunities for youth.
In the education sector, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched new academic and vocational programs in Palestinian universities and concluded national competitions aimed at enhancing creativity and excellence among students. It also continued its efforts to rally international support for alleviating the education sector in Gaza and restoring regular educational processes.
In the economic field, the Palestinian Investment Promotion Agency approved incentives for 33 investment projects with a total value of approximately $74.8 million in sectors such as industry, energy, and health. Meanwhile, the city of Bethlehem witnessed the opening of the "Palestine Food Expo 2026" with broad participation from national companies to promote Palestinian products and support the national economy.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications recorded thousands of transactions and services related to vehicles and drivers, in addition to continuing its efforts to develop the transport sector and enhance road safety, while the Environmental Quality Authority carried out dozens of regulatory and inspection rounds on industrial facilities and launched environmental projects and initiatives to support farmers' resilience and protect natural resources.
In the security and service fields, the Palestinian security institution implemented a series of procedures and field tasks, which included arresting wanted individuals, executing thousands of judicial warrants, following up on criminal cases and combating drugs, while the Civil Defense conducted hundreds of firefighting, rescue, and public safety missions.
The Ministry of Local Government continued to enhance the work of local authorities and finalize financial settlements for a number of municipalities and village councils, while launching in collaboration with international partners the "Palestinian Government Innovation Lab" project aimed at developing government services and enhancing innovation in the public sector.
In the sectors of tourism, culture, energy, statistics, and justice, government institutions implemented a series of developmental, cultural, and legal projects and activities, including the protection of archaeological and heritage sites, the development of energy efficiency tools, the launch of new national statistical indicators, and enhancing the digital transformation of judicial services, in addition to cultural and awareness initiatives across various governorates.
The report emphasized that the government continues to work on enhancing the resilience of citizens, developing basic services, stimulating the national economy, and continuing political and diplomatic movements to garner international support for the rights of the Palestinian people, despite challenges arising from the ongoing Israeli aggression and its measures in the occupied Palestinian territories.
