Fatality in Iranian Attack Targeting Kuwait Airport and Damage to Diplomatic Facilities
SadaNews - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that one person was killed and others injured, along with significant damage to vital facilities and diplomatic missions, in an Iranian attack targeting Kuwait International Airport.
Earlier, the General Department of Civil Aviation in Kuwait reported that the passenger building at the airport was attacked by drones and missiles, resulting in injuries and extensive damage to several of its facilities, confirming the activation of the emergency plan immediately following the attack.
The authority added that the authorities decided to suspend all flights and redirect a number of them to alternative airports until further notice, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of travelers and workers.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the country will not accept or tolerate the recurrence of such Iranian attacks.
For its part, the Kuwaiti army stated that it is monitoring the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities and will take necessary measures to maintain the country’s security.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Wednesday that it successfully countered a wave of multiple Iranian attacks targeting countries in the region, confirming that Iranian ballistic missiles and drones failed to hit their targets.
The American leadership reported that it carried out precise strikes targeting an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island, in response to attacks attributed to Tehran.
In detail, CENTCOM noted that two Iranian missiles launched towards Kuwait fell or broke apart before reaching their targets, while American and Bahraini air defenses intercepted three missiles fired towards Bahrain immediately.
It also announced the interception of three suicide drones targeting civilian sailors as they legally crossed the territorial waters, confirming no casualties among American forces as a result of these attacks.
In a later statement, the American leadership confirmed that an additional wave of Iranian drones attempted to target its forces in Kuwait but also failed to achieve their objectives, indicating that American air defenses succeeded in shooting down several of them without any human or material damage.
In contrast, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it targeted a "U.S. base in the area," in addition to the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, with missiles and drones, in retaliation for the U.S. "aggression" on a communications tower on Qeshm Island, which was denied by the CENTCOM leadership.
The Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement, "We had previously warned that our response would be different if we were subjected to aggression, and our response should serve as a lesson to the enemy," referring to the U.S. military targeting an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz the day before, causing damage to the engine room.
In turn, the Revolutionary Guard announced that it targeted the vessel "Banaya" belonging to the "Zionist-American enemy," in response to the targeting of the Iranian oil tanker and "violations of navigation rules in Hormuz," according to the statement.
The statement warned American forces, cautioning that "disturbing the security of the strait will cost the aggressive U.S. military a heavy price."
