Evacuation of 33 Patients from Gaza Strip via Rafah Crossing

SadaNews - The teams of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society carried out a new medical evacuation operation today, Tuesday, for patients from the Gaza Strip via the Rafah border crossing, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to facilitate the travel of medical cases that need treatment outside the Strip.

The society reported that the evacuation operation included 73 individuals, among them 33 patients and 40 escorts, who were gathered and transported from the society's Medical Rehabilitation Hospital towards the Rafah crossing.

It added that its teams undertook the tasks of organization, transport, and medical security for the departing individuals, in coordination with the World Health Organization and the relevant health authorities, to ensure the safe and orderly arrival of patients at the crossing.

The society emphasized that its participation in medical evacuation operations comes as part of its ongoing humanitarian role in supporting patients and facilitating their access to necessary treatment, by providing logistical and medical support and accompanying cases through various transport stages.

This comes amid significant challenges facing the health sector in Gaza, and the ongoing need to transfer patients, especially those with critical conditions, to receive treatment in hospitals and medical centers outside the sector.

Health and humanitarian institutions continue their efforts to secure the departure of patients in need of specialized treatment, amidst increasing pressures on the health system due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and the severe damage it has caused to the health infrastructure along with the rising number of injured and patients in need of advanced medical care.
