How is Israel Tracking Down the Perpetrators of the October 7 Attack?!

SadaNews Translation - The American Wall Street Journal published an extensive report on the mechanism followed by the Israeli army in pursuing and monitoring those who participated in the October 7, 2023 attack, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of thousands of Israelis and the capture of hundreds.

The report, published by the Hebrew newspaper Maariv and translated by SadaNews, indicates that the Israeli army, in coordination with the Shin Bet, has formed a special unit to track and monitor the participants in the attack, estimated to number in the thousands from Hamas and Palestinian factions.

This unit's operations rely on killing or arresting anyone who planned or took part in that attack.

The American newspaper quoted Israeli sources stating that hundreds of militants have already been removed from this list after being killed or captured.

The activities of this force are described as one of the most precise and technologically advanced assassination operations in the history of wars, and this operation is still ongoing, despite tensions with Iran and Lebanon, and a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Israel asserts that it will reach all those who participated in that attack, even if they were involved in the least of actions. According to the newspaper, this prompted Israel, months after the attack, to assassinate a Palestinian who was operating a "bulldozer" that day to destroy the border fence, as he was eliminated while driving down a narrow street in Gaza.

The pursuit operation extends from the ordinary "terrorist" on the ground to the highest leadership, the latest of whom is Izz al-Din al-Haddad, according to the newspaper's description.

The American newspaper, according to SadaNews translation, states: "Hamas militants, who documented their actions with their phones or GoPro cameras to boast about them on social media, or those who called their families to brag, were far too late to the capabilities of Israeli intelligence and technology."

Israeli security sources say that "extrajudicial killings" (assassinations) are conducted after verifying evidence of the targeted individuals' involvement in that attack, after sorting through thousands of clips, running facial recognition software, listening to phone calls, and analyzing location data from mobile phone antennas to prepare the assassination list.

The newspaper noted that despite the ceasefire, the process of targeting individuals on the list, who participated in that attack, especially those still posing a threat on the ground or planning new attacks, continues, according to Israel.

The operation to pursue participants in the October 7 attack has been named "Nili," which is a Biblical name, recalling the Jewish secret movement established during the Ottoman era, and it also recalls the "Wrath of God" operation, in which Israel eliminated those responsible for an attack against athletes at the Munich 1972 Olympics.

An Israeli security source stated that the Shin Bet sometimes prioritizes eliminating "terrorists" whose families of victims might feel reassured by that, a procedure known in the security institution as "soul care."
