Reports: Pentagon Halts Deployment of 4,000 US Troops in Europe
SadaNews - The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has halted the deployment of more than 4,000 troops from a combat brigade to Europe, according to media reports.
This move has surprised some military officials, according to the reports.
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a Pentagon official, that the decision was communicated during a meeting that included US military leadership in Europe and parts of the US Army.
These soldiers were expected to be deployed in Poland as part of a scheduled rotation lasting nine months.
The US Army had announced last March that the brigade would replace other forces as part of a routine rotation process.
According to the Wall Street Journal, some equipment and personnel were already en route to their destination, which made the sudden halt decision perplexing for some military officials who did not expect this move.
