Fatah Completes Preparations for Its Eighth Conference with Participation of 2,552 Members from Home and Diaspora

SadaNews: The official spokesperson for the Fatah Movement, Abd al-Fattah Dula, confirmed that the movement has entered an advanced stage of preparation for its eighth general conference, scheduled for May 14 this month, after the membership committee has nearly completed its tasks and has identified and approved the representation of the conference with (2,552) members, ensuring broad and comprehensive representation of the movement's members both in the homeland and abroad.

Dula explained that organizational and logistical preparations are continuing at a high pace, including the preparation of halls and connection mechanisms, noting that holding the conference in multiple locations inside and outside the homeland is a result of the restrictions imposed by the occupation, which hinder freedom of movement and access. However, the movement has succeeded in overcoming these challenges, ensuring participation of its cadres in various locations, reflecting the unity of the movement and its extensive national and international presence.

He emphasized that the eighth conference is not merely an organizational obligation, but represents a crucial political juncture for continuing the movement’s vision and national program in light of the critical phase the Palestinian cause is undergoing, at a time when our people are experiencing a genocide war in Gaza and continuous aggression on all fronts in the West Bank.

He added that Fatah, as the cornerstone of Palestinian national work and the leader of the national liberation project, views this conference as a station for renewing the commitment to the democratic approach and establishing the principle that leadership emerges from the will of the movement’s members through the ballot boxes, thus enhancing internal vitality and institutional organization.

Dula affirmed that Fatah has been and will remain a supreme national interest, and a fundamental guarantee for protecting the national project and preserving independent Palestinian decision-making, pointing out that the strength of the movement constitutes a leverage for the strength of the entire Palestinian political system, and that its responsibilities during this phase necessitate a continuous process of renewal and development to face current challenges.

He concluded by stating that the movement is confidently moving toward holding its conference at the specified time, leading to the election of a leadership capable of carrying the national burden and responding to the aspirations of our people for freedom and independence, assuring that the eighth conference will be a station for reinforcing the unity of the movement and its pioneering role in leading our people towards their national goals.
