Official: Netanyahu Agrees to Renew Ceasefire in Lebanon
SadaNews - Axios reported on Friday that a U.S. official stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a 100% ceasefire in Lebanon.
An American official told Reuters on Friday that Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire starting at 4 PM local time today (1300 GMT), following an escalation in hostilities between them during the night in Lebanon.
The official added: "Hezbollah and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire," noting that negotiators from the United States and Qatar worked to prepare the agreement with assistance from Iran.
The official continued: "We learned that after gunfire exchanged earlier today, Israel and Hezbollah entered into a ceasefire."
This came after it appeared that the memorandum of understanding signed by Iran and the U.S. to end the war in the Middle East, including Lebanon, was at risk, with talks scheduled between the two sides in Switzerland postponed and the pace of confrontations in Lebanon escalating.
