8 Arab and Islamic Countries Strongly Condemn the Rising Violence of Settlers in the West Bank
SadaNews - Ministers from 8 Arab and Islamic countries have strongly condemned the ongoing and escalating violence of settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, including recent attacks on the Grand Mosque in the village of Jaljulia and Al-Farooq Mosque in the village of Mazra'a al-Nubani north of Ramallah.
This was stated in a joint statement by the foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The statement affirmed that these attacks represent a clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites, as well as international law, including international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The ministers reiterated their absolute rejection of these condemned attacks perpetrated by Israeli settlers, as well as the continued unilateral and illegal Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories, which fuel instability, violence, and extremism, and undermine international efforts to achieve peace.
The ministers held Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these attacks.
They renewed their call for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, compelling Israel to halt its dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, end its illegal practices, stop settler violence, hold perpetrators of these crimes accountable, and ensure they do not escape punishment.
The foreign ministers reiterated their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and their unwavering support for the fulfillment of their legitimate and inalienable national rights, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the realization of an independent sovereign Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They again affirmed their support for all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
