Trump: No Money for Iran, We Will Continue with the 60-Day Deadline
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Iran accepted to sign a memorandum of understanding with Washington out of desperation, indicating that the United States will proceed with the 60-day period and will not grant Tehran any money.
He wrote on "Truth Social", "We did not meet out of desperation; it is Iran that did... They are completely finished".
He also added, "We will complete the sixty days. They will not receive any money, not even ten cents".
This came as the memorandum of understanding signed by Iran and the United States appeared to be at stake on Friday, with the postponement of planned talks in Switzerland and the escalation of confrontations in Lebanon, while Tehran conditioned Washington's commitment to the "red lines" set by Tehran for negotiations.
The Swiss government announced the postponement of the negotiations scheduled for Friday in Switzerland between Tehran and Washington, aimed at launching a 60-day process to resolve the core issue related to Tehran's nuclear program, to an indefinite date.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that "the planned talks between the United States, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan have been postponed. Switzerland remains ready to facilitate these talks. The necessary preparatory work is ongoing", without specifying a new date for these talks aimed at reaching a final agreement between the two countries.
In contrast, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry clarified that there are no obstacles to the start of U.S.-Iranian talks.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif confirmed that Iranian President Masoud Beizakian accepted his invitation to visit Islamabad, expressing gratitude for Pakistan's support for Iran during difficult times.
He also thanked Army Chief General Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Mohsen Naqvi.
It is worth noting that after U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Beizakian remotely signed the memorandum of understanding, which stipulates the cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon, it was scheduled to be officially signed on Friday in Switzerland, launching the negotiation phase, in the presence of Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who each led their country's delegation in the only direct negotiation round that took place in Islamabad in April.
However, Vance canceled his visit, as well as Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, whose country played a crucial role in reaching the agreement by undertaking the mediation task.
