Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Occupation's Decision to Approve the Establishment of 126 Settlement Units in "Sanour" Settlement

SadaNews - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli colonial occupation authorities' approval of the construction of 126 new settlement units in the "Sanour" settlement built on the lands of Jenin Governorate in the northern occupied West Bank, reflecting the current Israeli government's insistence on entrenching and systematically expanding settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Israel, as the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, and that all settlement activities, including the revival of illegal outposts established on the land of Palestinian citizens, land theft, and the expansion of settlements, are deemed illegal, void, and lacking any legal effect under international law and international legitimacy, constituting a blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The ministry also confirms that the continuous expansion of settlements by the Israeli government deliberately undermines any opportunity for achieving peace, aims to displace the Palestinian people, and deepen the existing colonial apartheid system, reflecting a blatant challenge to the will of the international community and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates calls upon the international community, including the United Nations Security Council and the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions, to bear its legal and moral responsibilities and to take urgent and binding actions to stop Israeli settlement activities, including imposing sanctions and linking countries' relations to the commitment of the occupying state to international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and obliging Israel, the occupying power, to cease its ongoing crimes and provide international protection to the Palestinian people.

The ministry reiterates that all Israeli settlement measures in the occupied Palestinian territory, including the West Bank and East Jerusalem, are rejected and condemned and will not create any legal right, and that this land will remain occupied Palestinian land until the end of occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
