Iranian Cyber Escalation: Thousands of Attacks Target Israel Amid Open War
SadaNews - A senior Israeli security official revealed that the number of cyberattacks launched by Iran against Israel has sharply increased since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against it this year.
Yossi Karadi, the Director General of the Israeli National Cyber Security Directorate, stated on Monday that Israeli authorities recorded approximately 1,600 hostile electronic incidents in June 2025 during Israeli military operations against Iran, according to the German newspaper "Die Welt".
He also noted that the number jumped during the same month in 2026 to about 4,800 incidents. He added, "Some groups possess high skills... we can deal with them, but we must take them seriously. Unlike the conventional military domain, there is no ceasefire in cyberspace."
Additionally, he pointed out that the attacks targeted systems used in Israel's critical infrastructure, central organizations, small and medium enterprises, and individuals. He mentioned that law firms and accounting firms were among the smaller entities that were attacked.
He further stated, "We have so far managed to repel attacks on critical infrastructure, and we hope to remain capable of doing so." He explained that these incidents mostly end with the wiping of the computer systems of companies that were easy to penetrate, without naming any.
It is worth noting that Iran typically denies conducting cyber hacking campaigns against other countries, while it announces the attacks it faces.
Several reports had previously indicated that Israel has launched numerous cyberattacks against Iran over recent years.
