Source: Ukraine Will Take Action Against Israel If a Ship with 'Stolen' Goods Docks in Haifa
SadaNews - A Ukrainian diplomatic source told Reuters on Monday that Israel risks a diplomatic and legal response from Kyiv if it allows a ship carrying grain from Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia to dock at the Port of Haifa.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported earlier that the ship "Panormitis," which it claims carries grain from the occupied Ukrainian territories that Kyiv considers stolen, is waiting for permission to dock in Haifa.
The Ukrainian source, who requested anonymity, stated: "If this ship and its cargo are not rejected, we reserve the right to take a full range of international diplomatic and legal actions."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Haaretz reported on Sunday that four grain shipments from the occupied Ukrainian territories have already been unloaded in Israel this year.
The source said: "The practice of laundering stolen goods is unacceptable, and Israel has fundamentally ignored our demands regarding the previous ship."
The source added that Kyiv is tracking the ship, warning that allowing it to dock would have consequences for bilateral relations between Ukraine and Israel.
