Mustafa During the Launch of Palestine Week for Artificial Intelligence 2026: We Will Train 10,000 Young Men and Women on Future Skills

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa announced the intention to launch the National Council for Digital Economy as a national tool to determine priorities and implement a unified decision, with a single agenda aimed at bringing together the government, regulatory bodies, the private sector, and universities at one table.

This was stated during his participation in the launch of the Palestinian Technology Park, today Monday in Birzeit, marking the activities of Palestine Week for Artificial Intelligence 2026, with extensive participation from government institutions, the private sector, universities, international partners, along with a select group of Palestinian diaspora experts in technology.

The Prime Minister stated: "The world has entered a new phase where artificial intelligence has become one of the most important drivers of economic growth and international competitiveness, which no longer treats artificial intelligence as just a technical issue, but as a matter of digital sovereignty, productive capacity, and positioning in the global economy, and those who do not build their position today may find themselves tomorrow merely consumers of what others produce."

Mustafa added: "Palestine should not enter this field from the perspective of imitation, but from the perspective of smart specialization. We are not required to compete in everything, but we are capable of excellence in specific areas where we have a real opportunity, such as having artificial intelligence in Arabic, smart government services, digital education, digital health, cybersecurity, data analysis, and exporting digital services supported by artificial intelligence. This is the realistic and ambitious Palestinian entry point at the same time."

The Prime Minister continued: "We are not starting from scratch in this field; we have begun building the digital foundation we need, through the legislative and regulatory environment, to developing the Government platform that today provides hundreds of electronic services, to enhancing infrastructure and cybersecurity and connecting government institutions. What we want now is to advance from this foundation to a new phase: a phase of artificial intelligence that produces value, in government, the economy, and society."

Mustafa explained that the Palestinian vision for artificial intelligence must be clear: intelligence that serves sovereignty, creates economic value, opens new opportunities for youth and companies, and transforms Palestinian efficiency into products, services, jobs, and exports.

The Prime Minister added: "To turn this vision into reality, we are committed to clear objectives, including training 10,000 young men and women on future skills related to artificial intelligence, employing and qualifying 1,000 graduates annually in this field in partnership with the market, digitizing 50% of the most important government transactions to become paperless within a year and a half, working to enhance the cybersecurity system to protect the rights of citizens and investors alike, and working to reduce the time for completing government procedures by 40% by 2028, in addition to intensifying efforts to attract investments to create job opportunities for our cadres."

Mustafa continued: "The Palestinian diaspora must be part of this project from day one, and we have Palestinians in major technology companies, in global universities, and in investment and research centers. These are not just individual success stories; they are part of the national asset of Palestine. We want them to be partners in mentoring, investing, opening doors, transferring knowledge, and connecting our companies to global markets."

The Prime Minister added: "We also want real partnerships with international players, but on a clear basis, that we are not looking just to import tools, but to build a Palestinian system capable of learning, developing, operating, and exporting."

Mustafa said: "Our message today is that Palestine does not want to be just a consumer of artificial intelligence, but a partner in its development, application, and utilization. We want to transform our efficiencies into economic value, our ideas into companies, our youth into a production and export force, and our institutions into more efficient, transparent, and high-quality institutions. This is an important moment for Palestine."

The Prime Minister added: "With partnership, will, and hard work, we can build our rightful position in the global digital economy, all while transforming our economy from a resource-poor economy into a knowledge-rich economy."

Mustafa extended his sincere congratulations to the board of directors of 'Techno Park' for this important achievement and for the role it continues to play in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in Palestine, and to all participants and contributors in building this path, from partners, experts, entrepreneurs, and students.

This national event is the first of its kind at this level, bringing together more than 25 local and international institutions, and includes over 30 diverse activities including a main conference, technology exhibitions, a hackathon, training workshops, specialized dialogue sessions, along with the announcement of strategic initiatives aimed at building a comprehensive artificial intelligence system in Palestine.

The launch of this week comes under the patronage and presence of the Prime Minister, confirming the government's commitment to support digital transformation, enhance innovation, and create quality job opportunities for Palestinian youth, especially in light of the current economic challenges.
