The President Congratulates Palestinians on the Great Success of the Local Elections
SadaNews: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas congratulated the Palestinian people in all provinces of the homeland on the great success achieved in the local elections, which were held in a national and democratic atmosphere, reflecting the awareness of the Palestinian people and their insistence on exercising their democratic right, despite the difficult and exceptional circumstances they are experiencing due to the Israeli occupation, its practices, and continuous aggression.
He confirmed that this success represents a new victory for the Palestinian national will and a vivid embodiment of our people's adherence to the choice of democracy, and their deep belief in the importance of popular participation in building our national institutions and enhancing their role in serving citizens.
The President pointed to the importance of the role played by local councils and bodies in serving the Palestinian citizen, improving the level of services provided to citizens, and enhancing their steadfastness and resilience on their land, especially in light of the tremendous challenges faced by our people.
He added that this achievement comes within the broader context of democracy, which began with the elections of the Fatah youth and continues through the local elections, culminating next month with the holding of the eighth conference of the "Fatah" Movement and the elections of its leadership, leading to the elections of the Palestinian National Council, which enhances democratic life and establishes the principle that the citizen's voice is the basis for choosing their representatives.
He called on all elected local bodies to assume their national and service responsibilities and to work in a spirit of teamwork to serve our people, meet their needs, and enhance their steadfastness and attachment to their land and their legitimate national rights.
