Due to the Financial Crisis: "UNRWA" Reduces School Hours in the West Bank to 4 Days a Week
SadaNews: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced today, Sunday, that it is reducing the school hours in the West Bank to four days a week instead of five, until the end of the 2025-2026 academic year. This decision is part of the austerity measures implemented since the beginning of this year, affecting its five regions, amid a severe financial crisis.
The agency clarified in a statement that the decision is part of a set of measures affecting its five regions, aimed at ensuring the continued provision of essential services to Palestinian refugees.
It added that it has also decided to reduce the working hours of its employees by 20%, including the educational sector, to ensure the minimum continuity of the educational process.
UNRWA confirmed that these measures are temporary and have a set timeframe until the end of this year, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to prevent any disruption in its vital services.
