European Union: Palestinian Local Elections to Renew Their Legitimacy

SadaNews - The European Union on Saturday welcomed the organization of the Palestinian local elections for the year 2026.

The European Union stated in a statement that, in these difficult times, the opportunity is now available for Palestinians to elect their local councils and renew their democratic legitimacy.

It added: Based on the invitation from the Central Elections Commission, a number of our diplomatic missions and representatives will be present on the ground. We emphasize the importance of conducting transparent, credible, and inclusive elections.

It continued: We welcome this round of elections as an important step towards expanding democracy and enhancing local governance, in general, and in line with the ongoing reform process.
