Netanyahu: I Had an 'Excellent' Call with Trump and We Are Cooperating to Pressure Iran
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today, Friday, that he had an excellent phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Iran.
He also stated in a video message, "We are working in full cooperation with Trump to exert pressure on Tehran."
Regarding the Lebanese file, Netanyahu, in his first statement after extending the ceasefire with Beirut, said, "We have begun a process to reach a historic peace between Israel and Lebanon, and it is clear to us that Hezbollah is attempting to undermine that."
Trump announced after a Lebanese-Israeli negotiation session in Washington on Thursday the extension of the ceasefire for three weeks, but Hezbollah, through its parliamentary deputy Ali Fa'yad, considered the extension "meaningless" in light of the ongoing "hostilities."
Fa'yad further added in a statement that "any Israeli attack against any Lebanese target, regardless of its nature, gives the right... to respond proportionately." Two people were killed on Friday due to an Israeli airstrike on the town of Tulin in southern Lebanon, according to the Ministry of Health.
The truce was set to expire on Sunday, having come into effect on April 17, with both sides denouncing regular violations.
