Arrival of the Aircraft Carrier "George Bush" to the Region
SadaNews - The U.S. military announced on Thursday the arrival of the aircraft carrier "USS George H.W. Bush" in the region, raising the number of active U.S. aircraft carriers in the area to three.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a post on the "X" platform that the carrier had been sailing "in the Indian Ocean within the range of responsibility of U.S. Central Command on April 23," accompanied by a picture showing its flight deck crowded with warplanes.
The U.S. aircraft carrier "USS Gerald Ford" is operating in the Red Sea, and the "USS Abraham Lincoln" is also in the region, according to CENTCOM's posts on social media.
The deployment of the third aircraft carrier in the region comes amid a truce that has lasted for more than two weeks, during which U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran have ceased, which had begun on February 28.
The "Gerald Ford" had sailed to Croatia for repairs several weeks ago after a fire broke out on board on March 12.
The "Gerald Ford" has been at sea for about 10 months during which it participated in U.S. operations in the Caribbean, where it took part in strikes on boats suspected of trafficking drugs and intercepted oil tankers under sanctions.
It also participated in the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, during which the United States abducted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
It is sailing with its aircraft carriers a strike group assigned to it.
